Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017 and became the top-streamed track within 6 months. It was a blend of reggaeton and pop music that not only drew attention to Latin Music, but as well reggaeton. In 2020, 41 mostly Spanish songs will be included in the top 100. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated on MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna joined forces with Maluma on Medellin 2019, which was released in 2019. Certain reggaeton performers have criticized the shift to popular music by 2020. However, a brand newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the evolution and development of reggaeton. The musician incorporated electronic dance music and other genres into his songs.
